Professional Bio

Lisa was born to a middle class family. Her mother is from Argentina who immigrated to American to become a tri-lingual teacher. Her father is from Massachusetts, born and raised in an Irish-Catholic family who became a mental health therapist. Despite her family struggles of mental health, addition and suicide, they instilled the value of service and giving back. Lisa served in the Air Force as a Military Police Woman (Security Forces) before hanging up her beret to become a Social Worker in Colorado as an Intensive Case Manage serving low-income families, older and disabled adults. After piloting the first ever state-wide nursing home re-intergration program, she pivoted to policy work and completed her Masters Degree at Boston College for Macro Social Work and Policy. Throughout her life, she found ways to serve, from volunteerism to her everyday work. Service is what she lives for. Lisa worked in the Boston Mayors Office testing and scaling pilots around housing, two of which became fully funded programs. Lisa currently works with Team Rubicon, a nonprofit organization that deploys veterans to natural disasters and humanitarian crises across the world. She has deployed to Greece to help run a medical clinic, deployed to flood and fire zones and deployed veterans to the 2015 Earthquake in Nepal. Locally, she serves on various boards and committees to include: Colorado Senior Lobby, Congressman Perlmutter's Veterans Advisory Council, Jefferson County Community Services Advisory Board, National Association of Social Workers and several others. She is a two-time recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Since childhood, Lisa knew her purpose of serving others and hopes to continue to serve through Arvada City Council.
